CALGARY LIVING

Your story stays yours.

Submitted names, email addresses, stories and photographs are stored for yearbook review. Only the owner can access the review dashboard. Your private draft link lets its holder view and revise that one entry, so keep it private. Your email is not published in the yearbook.

The story builder keeps an unfinished draft, selected photographs and a private recovery key on your device when browser storage is available. These temporary drafts expire after 30 days and can be cleared with Start again. After successful submission, the story and photographs are replaced on this device by a private receipt link, kept for 30 days. Clear from this device removes that saved link. They are not uploaded until you submit. Before uploading, photographs are prepared as full-frame JPG files and camera metadata is removed. Captions, credits, the local connection and your confirmations are saved with the submitted entry so the editor can review them together.

Reading activity helps Calgary Living understand whether people open the book, reach later pages, or start a story form. It uses a random browser-session identifier, the referring website’s hostname, and campaign link labels for the source, campaign and placement. The first labelled source in a session can be connected to a submitted story through that session identifier. IP addresses, form text and email open pixels are not used for reading analytics.

A campaign link can associate activity with the invitation it came from. A forwarded link may be used by someone else, so it does not prove that a named person read the book. The dashboard reports the most recent 90 days; older reading events are removed whenever the owner opens the dashboard. Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control signals are respected for reading analytics.

Owner sign-in saves a browser preference and an exclusion cookie so building and testing activity stays out of audience reports, including after sign-out. That cookie lasts up to one year and is renewed when the owner browser is recognized. Known owner sessions are excluded from all reading reports; earlier unclassified sessions are kept separate. Browser recognition does not use IP addresses or device fingerprinting.

Submissions and contact records are retained for editorial follow-up until deletion is requested or the owner removes them. For access, correction, removal, or to stop campaign emails, contact hello.calgaryliving@gmail.com.
